Kalahasti, Raja of; Raja Damara Kuniara Timmanayanim Bahadur Garu; a.s. of late Raja Akkappa Nayanim Bahadur Garu; educ; privately. The estate, which is one of the ancient Zemindaries in the Presidency of Madras, lies scattered in the three districts of Nellore, Chittoor, and Chingleput; has an annual revenue of about 6 lakhs, but is greatly encumbered. It was for some time under the management of the Court of Wards. The town of Kalahasti which is the residence of the Raja, contains a temple dedicated to Siva known here as Vayu Linga. In point of , Kalahivsti ranks next to Benares, and the annual festival in the temple commencing from Sivarathri is attended by hundreds from far and near.
