O’Donnell, Dr. Thomas Joseph, V.D., F.R.C.S.I,, L.C.P.I., Chief Medical Officer, Kolar Gold Fields, Champion Reefs; b. in Tipperary, Ireland; educ: Ledwich School, and the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin; practised at the Rhymney Iron Works, South Wales, and at Consett Iron Works, Durham; selected as Medical Officer of Messrs. John Taylor and Sons of Kolar Gold Fields, 1885; came out to India and joined his duties, same year; induced Messrs. John Taylor & Co. to start a small hospital with accommodation for 48 patients, which was opened in 1887; is chiefly responsible for the erection of the present up-to-date hospital which was completed in 1900: visited Ireland and took his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, 1900; is a Surgeon-Major in the K.G.F.
