Ramaswami Aiyangar, Asur, B.A., B.L., Revenue Commissioner, Mysore State; b. 1851; passed B.A., 1869; B.L., 1874; joined Mysore State service as Munsiff, 1875; became Sub-Judge, 1880; Assistant Comptroller, 1884; Comptroller, 1886; Deputy Commissioner in several places till 1898; Inspector-General of Police, 1898; adopted effective measures to check destructiveness of sand-storms of Ralakad for which he was warmly thanked by Mysore Government; special duty to enquire and report on Chikmagalur Hospital Defalcations, 1903; received thanks of the Mysore Government, 1904; President of Committee for revising Draft Police Regulations, 1904; President of the Committee to enquire into the claims of Sri Parakalaswami Mutt to certain Honours in Vishnu Temples, 1904; Revenue Commissioner and ex-officio Director of Statistics, 1906; retired, 1911.
