Seitur, Zemindar of; Sri Vadamalai Tiruvanatha Sevaga Padyan Thevar Avergal; belongs to a family of Maravars known by the name of “Menathi Mauniya Kurukula Vanangamudi Pandarathar”; s. of Sri Sundarathass Thevar; educ: first privately under Mr. Suriyanaraya Iyer, then at the Hindu High School,. Srivilliputtur, and afterwards at the Hindu College, Tinnevelly; lost his parents while young; the estate was managed during his minority by Sri Nagayasawmi Thumbuchi Nayakar, Zemindar of Peraiyur, who had been appointed executor of the estate; removed to Madras and joined the Wesley College, Royapettah; exhibited a taste for music and commenced to play “Ganjari” and became proficient in the art; removed to the “Newington” School, 1897; removed to Madura and was under the tuition of Mr. P. C. Ganapathi Iyer, B.A.; proceeded to his estate to learn business connected with the management of his property, 1891; organised a successful elephant hunt at Kobikulam; installed on the gaddi, 3rd February 1902; connected by marriage to the Zemindars of Ramnad, Urkad, and Singampatti and by blood to the Zemindar of Elumalai; greatly interested in promoting and encouraging indigenous arts and industries; one of the chief patrons of the “Madura Tamil Sangam”; rendered substantial pecuniary aid to the Hindu High School, Srivilliputtur; prominent exhibitor in the Industrial and Fine Arts Exhibition held at Tinnevelly, 1906; supports needy and deserving students by feeding them at his Madunarvelagam choultry.
