LOS ANGELES, lṓs äng'Hắ-lắs. Capital of the Province of Bío-Bío, Central Chile (Map: Chile, C 11). It is situated between the Laja and Bío-Bío rivers in a fertile district. Settled in 1739, it figured somewhat in the struggles with the Araucanian Indians. Population, in 1895, 7868.
