In February 2003, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service illegally sent agents to interrogate Canadian youth Omar Khadr as he was held in Guantanamo Bay detainment camps. As a result of this, and other, interrogations - the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that the country was "complicit in the torture of Canadian citizens", as agents had requested that the 16-year old Khadr be abused prior to their visit, and again after they left unhappy with the answers he had given.

While eight hours of tapes clandestinely recorded by the United States were ordered released to Khadr's legal team, only ten minutes of footage were distributed to media outlets.
