Royal Decree
Dissolving the House of People's Representatives,
2526 BE

Bhumibol Adulyadej R
Given on the 1st day of May 2529 BE
Being the 41st year of the present reign

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure that it be announced as follows:

Whereas the Prime Minister has humbly made the following submission to Him: Following the enactment and coming into force of the Emergency Decree Amending the 'Land Traffic Act, 2522 BE', 2529 BE, and the resolution passed by the House of People's Representatives at its meeting on the 1st day of May 2529 BE to disapprove the said emergency decree, which caused the emergency decree to lapse, it is found, in analysing the reasons for the disapproval of the said emergency decree, that the House of People's Representatives failed to take account of the grounds for the enactment of the emergency decree, as a result of political discord amongst some political parties. If the present House of People's Representatives is allowed to continue functioning, it would become an obstacle to the handling of the public services of the State and an impact upon the common interest of the Country, and would lead to decadence of the administration under the democratic regime. It is appropriate to dissolve the House of People's Representatives in order to enable a general election of new Members of the House of People's Representatives;

Therefore, by virtue of the powers under the stipulations of section 101 and section 159 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, He orders with His gracious pleasure that the following Royal Decree be enacted:

Section1.This Royal Decree is called the "Royal Decree Dissolving the House of People's Representatives, 2529 BE".

Section2.This Royal Decree shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The House of People's Representatives shall be dissolved in order to enable an election of new Members of the House of People's Representatives.

Section4.A general election of Members of the House of People's Representatives shall take place on the 7th day of July 2529.

Section5.The Minister of Interior shall be in charge of the execution of this Royal Decree.

Countersignatory:
General P. Tinsulanonda
Prime Minister
