determine publishing date, editions and available files-pick file to publish on WS. For advice on choosing a suitable scan and/or edition, go to the Scriptorium ​
Check file is entire and legible, page by page is best.
Create index page. Label ToC, Index, Title pages and blank pages clearly on the Index page (so proofreaders can skip them, if they prefer). Help:Beginner's guide to Index: files.

Grade according to number of images, tables, foreign language-Add grade category to Index page; Identify any special treatment needed (i.e. exceptions from the Proofreaders’ Guide and/or e.g. Project specific templates. Set up Index Discussion page.
For Beginners Category: Create all pages with OCR, headers, smallref. Use problematic page status for anything that isn’t text only and/or requires special formatting e.g. Title pages, Illustrations contents, Index. Beginners are expected to be able to do references, hws&e, special characters, chapter header formating. Do Table of Contents.
Proofread the first page and link to Index Discussion, to set exemplar for Chapter headings etc.
  • Nominate with appropriate labels/category.
  • Shephard proofreaders, check watchlist regularly

  • Transclude
