Bot edit

Hi, LA2. Could you please have your bot flagged on meta:Requests for permission? That way people could hide its edits in the Recent changes. Thanks!—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:45, 16 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I have done so now, thanks for telling me where to do this. --LA2 15:23, 17 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nomination for deletion edit

Hello LA2. Please note that I have proposed that Template:Battle be deleted in accordance with the Deletion policy; I invite you to participate in the discussion taking place on Proposed deletions. The text will be deleted in a week if there is a general consensus of established editors to do so, or sooner if it matches a criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you for your interest in our project. // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 18:50, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

mark up edit

Re: [1] - there is a template for {{drop initial}} and sections can be transcluded between <section begin= 'your label' /> and <section end= />. Let me know if you have anything else. Cygnis insignis (talk) 13:15, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not looking for transclusion of sections. I think it's fine to transclude the entire issue (all 15 pages) in a single wiki page, The London Gazette 19346. But it still has sections, and only some of them have headings, e.g. "Contracts for bees' wax". The problem is: how should I mark sections that don't have headings? Related problems: Should I center headings or not? Should I indent the addresses that begin some of the notices? --LA2 (talk) 13:20, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I agree, a single page is best. I don't use wiki mark-up == heading == or <h2> for sections, I preserve the [meaningful] formatting of the original. I changed the first section here to show some solutions (though the 2nd and 3rd line is probably a right aligned block of centred text). You should find documentation at the templates and Help:Editing may do what it says. Regards, Cygnis insignis (talk)
Yes, I think the 2nd-3rd lines are the same as the "Department of the Comptroller" that follows the headings "Contract for...". I'm not sure whether linebreaks are significant (i.e. <br>) there or not.
In the wiki text, I think you should keep the linebreaks, as removing them makes further proofreading much harder.
In parallel, I'm working with the Swedish government gazette for the same date. It has headings for all major sections, that provide structure (h1, h2, h3) to the resulting document. I guess using real headings makes less sense for The London Gazette, and we could just as well use <big>, <center>, and boldface. --LA2 (talk) 14:32, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Probably not, I sometimes opt to add extra formatting.
I do the same until it's proofread, seems quicker in some ways, but the single lines need scrolling. I also use the horizontal layout in edit mode, finding the odd fix is easier when the lines are removed there.
You raised some interesting points elsewhere, I'll respond to some of them. Two things wikisource provides, that most other sites do not, are the ability to link references and to correct and improve the text. The NLA digitisation project has users making ocr correction for the old papers, as it happens, so patience will pay dividends ;-) If someone is only interested in part of a magazine or paper, they can proofread part of a scan and add {{incomplete}} to the page - I've been tempted to grab single items from the London Gazette myself. As you want, sir! edit

DNB edit

Hi Lars, welcome to the DNB project. Greatly appreciate your proof-reading efforts to this enormous project. --P. S. Burton (talk) 15:53, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

PSM work edit

Hi. Thanks for helping with PSM. One comment, though. Could you please use hws/hwe templates for hyphenated words at the end of a page? That is the standard practise that has been used so far. Thanks. --Mpaa (talk) 09:40, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

When LA2-bot applies text ... edit

When LA2-bot applies text it would also be very useful if it was also to pay attention to the header and footer fields on Index: pages. These additions are quite useful, and usually have a level of complexity in ref works and a bit of a PITA when missing. Thanks for the consideration. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:37, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File Upload Bot (LA2) edit

We will be starting Bot Confirmation in the next couple of days. Looking through the history I see that User:File Upload Bot (LA2) still has a bot flag and you have the page redirected to User:LA2-bot. Because you are active your bot(s) qualify for auto confirmation of bot flag. Do you have a desire to keep the bot flag for File Upload Bot (LA2)? Loss of flag does not prevent edits, only impacts recent change visibility. Jeepday (talk) 00:50, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

The LA2-bot account is sufficient for my needs. --LA2 (talk) 07:02, 13 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikisource:Scriptorium#Reconfirm_User:LA2-bot edit

Your bot User:LA2-bot is up for Reconfirmation. Looks like there are questions about if it should continue to be an "approved" bot. Jeepday (talk) 13:52, 5 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
