The 2nd 2006 steward elections have concluded with the promotion of twelve users to steward position, including two local users. Current stewards were simultaneously confirmed, though there is uncertainty about when and how the confirmations will be decided.
Pathoschild and Shanel join Danny and Yann as local stewards; however, the steward policies prohibit their use of steward tools on a project they contribute to. The users were technically promoted 22 December 2006.
A steward is a user that can grant and remove user access levels (including administrator, bureaucrat, steward, checkuser, and bot) on any Wikimedia Foundation wiki, as well as a special Oversight level on the English Wikipedia. There is typically a steward election once per year.
