Subpage edit

What is a subpage? It is not defined. 174.87.79.55 18:09, 1 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

A w:subpage is a page below a basepage—computer geeks code that as a / so that is what is used. So chapters of a work would typically be displayed as subpages. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:29, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Past tense of verb edit

When a proof has been read, or completed, the usual past tense for the accomplishment is "proofed," not "proofread." 174.87.79.55 18:14, 1 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

The past tense of "proof" is "proofed". The past tense of "proofread" is "proofread" (different pronunciation). This issue here isn't tense, it's the choice of verb. The verb "proof" refers to the editorial process of making decisions about the text. Wikisource does not do that; we compare against a scan that was "proofed" but do not make editorial changes ourselves. And since our templates use the verb "proofread", it would be counterproductive to mix vocabulary. Doing so would confuse new contributors. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:20, 1 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, but the actual term for "the editorial process of making decisions about the text" is actually "edit," or sometimes "copy edit," not "proof." Unless the Brits say it differently, the term that I am aware of in the U.S. and Canada for checking a copy against the original is "proofing" or "to proof." Notability Requirements edit

"The only exception to this is for source documents of historical importance; in this case Wikipedia-style notability requirements apply." Where can one find these notability requirements? Lollipoplollipoplollipop (talk) 04:38, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion criteria is at WS:WWIbillinghurst sDrewth 06:03, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Unless I'm blind, that doesn't mention anything about notability or historical documents. Lollipoplollipoplollipop (talk) 12:26, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
If they have a valid Wikipedia article they meet criteria; if they have a valid local author page, they meet the criteria. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:25, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
