JACOB, CITY OF. One of the cities sunk in the depths of the earth at the time of the great convulsions that attended the crucifixion of the Savior. Its iniquitous citizens had persecuted and slain the saints of God, and the Lord destroyed them from before His face, that the blood of the righteous might not come up unto Him any more against them.
