An Act to continue for a limited time the several Acts therein mentioned
[Assented to 22nd May, 1868.]
Whereas, it is expedient further to continue the Acts hereinafter mentioned, which would otherwise expire at the end of the present Session : Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows :
1. The Act of the Parliament of the late Province of Canada, passed in the Session held in the twenty-eighth year of Her Majesty's reign, intituled : An Act for the prevention and repression of outrages in violation of the Peace on the Frontier of this Province, and for other purposes, is hereby continued to the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, and from thence until the end of the then next ensuing Session of the Parliament of Canada, and no longer.
An Act to afford relief to Bankrupts in certain cases, shall respectively be and they are hereby continued, and shall remain in force as respects the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario only, until the said first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, and thence until the end of the next ensuing Session of the Parliament of Canada, and no longer.
Therefore, the said first cited Act shall continue and remain in force as regards the Savings Banks mentioned in the said seventieth section, until the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, and from thence until the end of the next ensuing Session of the Parliament of Canada, and no longer.
4. Provided always, that nothing herein contained shall prevent the effect of any Act passed during the present Session, repealing, amending, rendering permanent, or continuing to any further period than that herein appointed, any of the Acts herein before mentioned and continued, nor shall continue any provision or part of any of the Acts in this Act mentioned, which may have been repealed by any Act passed during the present Session or in any previous Session.
