HUMPHREY, Elizabeth B., artist, b. in Hopedale, Mass., about 1850. She was a pupil at the Cooper school of design, of Worthington Whittredge, and Dr. William Rimmer, and her professional life has been devoted chiefly to designing illustrations. She made some excellent sketches and paintings during a trip to California. In 1882 Miss Humphrey was awarded two prizes in the competitive exhibition of L. Prang and Co. Her illustrations include landscapes, still-life, and figures.
