Thucydides
(460s BCE – 395 BCE)

Ancient Greek historian, who fought in the Peloponnesian War war for the Athenians as a naval commander, and wrote an account of that war which is considered the first work of scientific history. His History was followed by the Hellenica of Xenophon.
