Identification edit

Designer in London. From the Library of Congress page [1] "a young man, known for his posters and, less so, for his oil paintings and water colors" (in 1903). Possibly also the London photographer of this name [2] (1873–1935). Poster by Charles E. Dawson shown here. See also this lithograph.

Later teaching art by correspondence.[3] Charles Matthews (talk) 06:51, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Charles Matthews: In case you were after some researched detail. I am now hunting whether Esther Wood the writer of works is author:Esther Jane Wood nee Walker. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:11, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Billinghurst: I'd expect all the works on Author:Esther Wood, Author:Esther Jane Wood and the Online Books page, with some others, to turn out to be by the same person. There is w:Esther Wood but the initial idea that this is the sister of w:Mary Anne Everett Green, daughter of Rev. Robert Wood, can't be correct. I'm not going to jump to conclusions here. There is a 1907 newspaper reference in w:The Clarion tying Mrs. Esther Woods the socialist to the 1907 work on bookplates by Dawson - "with a fragrant foreword by Mrs. Esther Wood". (British Newspaper Archive, Friday 07 June 1907, Newspaper: Clarion.) So that's the first of the works from the Online Books page. Charles Matthews (talk) 05:50, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
