There is just one George R. Taylor in Crockford’s Clerical Directory: George Richard Taylor (1828-1889), who would have been curate of Doulting and then Vicar of High Littleton during the period of these magazine contributions. However, there are no known publications by him except a sermon. It’s not safe to call him the author merely by exclusion since for one thing, it’s possible that one of the George Taylors listed in Crockfords without a middle initial did choose to use one when sending work to Once a Week.
