Why was Category:New religious movements added back? Category:Mormonism is not a subcat of Category:New religious movements within Wikipedia, Commons, Wikiquote, Wiktionary, or in Wikinews, so why should it be so here? -- 208.81.184.4 22:33, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikisource is not those other groups, so it won't necessarily categorize things the same way. It's less than 200 years old; that's still pretty new as religions go. Wikipedia says:

Debate surrounds the phrase "of recent origin": some authors use World War II as the dividing line after which anything is "new", whereas others define as "new" everything after the advent of the Bahá'í Faith (mid-19th century) or even everything after Sikhism (17th century).

Mormonism is roughly contemporaneous with Baha'i and definitely after Sikhism, so this categorization is not outside general usage of the term.--Prosfilaes (talk) 22:44, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Prosfilaes (talkcontribs). Cirt (talk) 01:12, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, but my opinion as of writing the above statement was neutral, and with further consideration, I'm leaning more towards following Wikipedia's example. It's just not worth it to have the type of long-drawn out debates over religious classification at Wikisource, and there's no right or wrong answer to be found here.--Prosfilaes (talk) 04:22, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
