Notes re copyright and images edit

Explanation
This work was published in 1912, which makes it public domain in the United States. However, the author was a British national, resident in India, and the work was published in the United Kingdom, and cursory searches do not show evidence of it being published in the US. The author died in 1955, and with such detail the books of his authorship would seem to be copyright until 2026 within the United Kingdom and other countries. That said, there were a series of books published under the series titles of "Picturesque (country name)", and the contractual relationships with regard to assignation of copyright is unknown. Also the images in the work are unattributed, and it is unknown whether the works have been sourced by the author, or the publisher, nor is it known the contractual arrangement for copyright of the works, such it is hard to notate the copyright outside of the United States. All this means that with Commons dual hosting test for copyright (US and home country) we should not load the images to Commons, there is no clear evidence that the work or its images are out of copyright in the UK. The current evidence would say that the work and its images would come out of copyright at the completion of the seventy years posthumous, ie. 2026. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:06, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
