Baker, Charles John, registrar to Corporation of Sons of the Clergy 1848-78, governor of Guy's Hospital, many years director of the South Sea Company, a commissioner of the lieutenancy for the city of London, a student of the Inner Temple 21 Jan., 1829 (then aged 21), called to the bar 31 Jan., 1834 (6th son of Sir Robert Baker, Knt., a master of the bench of the Inner Temple); born 27 July, 1808; married 1st, 8 July, 1841, Sophia, youngest dau. of Rev. J. W. Martin, rector of Keston, Kent; she died s.p. March, 1842; he married 2ndly, 23 July, 1851, Marianne Harling, only dau. of Rev. Thomas Cautley, vicar of St. Clement's, Cambridge.
