Bentinck, Rt. Hon. George Augustus Frederick Cavendish, M.P., M.A., Trin. Coll., Camb., 1844, P.C. 1875, M.P. Whitehaven since 1865, Taunton 1859-65, secretary to Board of Trade 1874-5, judge advocate-general 1875-80, J.P. Cumberland and Dorset, a trustee of British Museum, a student of Lincoln's Inn 5 April, 1842 (then aged 20), called to the bar 29 Jan., 1846 (only son of Lord Frederick Bentinck, late of London, dec.); born 9 July, 1821; married 14 Aug., 1850, Prudence Penelope, 4th dau. of late Col. Charles Powell Leslie, of Glasslough, co. Monaghan, and has issue (see Foster's Peerage, D. Portland).
