Bestel, Sir Nicholas Gustave, Knt. (27 Feb., 1880), puisne judge of supreme court of Mauritius 1855-79 and sometime acting chief justice, entered colonial service as third judge of appeal Mauritius 1832, a student of the Middle Temple 2 March, 1838, called to the bar 16 April, 1841 (only son of Anthony Bestel, Esq., of Mauritius); born 19 Dec., 1812; married 5 Aug., 1864, Marie Rosine Delie, dau. of M. François Bestel-Belmaison, of Mauritius.
