Denman, Hon. George, a judge of the High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Division, since 1881, a judge of the Court of Common Pleas 1872-5, a justice of Common Pleas Division of the High Court 1875-81, a member of the Juridical Society and of Association for Promotion of Social Science, M.P. Tiverton 1859-65 and 1866-72. M.A., Trin. Coll., Camb., 1845, fellow 1843-52, auditor 1852-64, counsel to Camb. Univ. 1857-72, a member of council Univ. Coll., London, 186—-74, translated Gray's Elegy into Greek verse, a student of Lincoln's Inn 8 Nov., 1843 (then aged 23), called to the bar 24 Nov., 1846, Q.C. , 1861, bencher 13 March, 1861 (4th son of Thomas, Lord Denman, lord chief justice of the Queen's Bench); born 23 Dec., 1819; married 19 Feb., 1852, Charlotte, 5th dau. of late Samuel Hope, Esq., of Liverpool, and has issue (see Foster's Peerage).
