Sidgreaves, Sir Thomas, B.A. London Univ. 1853 from Stonyhurst, chief justice of the Straits Settlements since 1871, went the Northern circuit, knighted 28 Jan., 1874, a student of the Inner Temple 24 Jan., 1854 (then aged 22), called to the bar 6 June, 1857 (2nd son of George Sidgreaves, Esq., of Preston, co. Lancaster); born 2 Jan., 1831; married 18 June, 1871, Barbara, dau. of late George Young, Esq., of Saverby House, co. Stafford (see Foster's Baronetage).
