Gen. i. 1-3.

The Creation of Light.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was npon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there wae light.

The Division of the Waters.

Gen. i. 6, 7.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament and it was so.

Woman formed.

Gen. ii. 22. 23, 25.

And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made she a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Adam naming the creatures.

Gen. ii. 19, 20.

And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam, to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field.

The serpent deceiveth Eve.

Gen. iii. 4, 6.

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat; and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.

Adam and Eve driven from the garden.

Gen. iii. 23, 24.

Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man: and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Noah entering the ark.

Gen. vii. 7-10.

And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth. There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

Babel built.

Gen. xi. 4, 8.

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city, and a tower whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all tho earth: and they left off to build the city.

Lot and his Daughters leave Sodom.

Gen. xix. 15, 30.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot saying, Arise, take thy wife and thy two daughters, which are here, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the maountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

Abraham offereth Isaac.

Gen. xxii. 10—12.

And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven and said, Abraham, Abraham. And he said, Here am I And he said, lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God; seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

Joseph is cast into the pit.

Gen. xxxvii. 23, 24.

And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours, that was on him. And they took him, and cast him into a pit; and the pit was empty, and there was no water in it.

Joseph tempted by Potaphar's Wife.

Gen. xxxix. 7, 10, 12.

And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie with her, or to be with her. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

The finding of Moses.

Exod. ii. 5, 6.

And tho daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side: and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrew's children

Moses smiteth the rock.

Exod. xvii. 5, 6.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Moses receiveth the Tables.

Exod. xxxiv. 1, 4.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first; and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest. And he hewed two tables of stone, like unto the first: and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up into Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in hiis haud the two tables of stone.

Jericho compassed.

Josh. vi. 12, 13.

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord. And seven priests, bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the Lord, went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the Lord, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

The sun and moon stand still.

Josh. x. 12, 13.

Then spake Joshua to tho Lord, in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themsolves upon their enemies.

Samson's Death.

Judges xvi. 29, 30.

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let mo die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were withiu.

David killeth Goliath.

1 Sam. xvil. 49, 51.

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slung it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith.

Absalom caught up in the oak.

2 Sam. xviii. 9.

And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away.

Solomon's Judgement.

1 Kings iii. 25, 26.

And the King said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, (for her bowels yearned upon her son,) and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: but the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

Solomon's Temple.

1 Kings vi. 2, 3,

And the house which king Solomon built for the Lord, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits. And the porch before the templo of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the broadth thereof before the house.

I Kings xvii. 3, 4, 6.

Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in tho morning, and bread and flesh in the evening: and he drank of the brook.

The Assyrians Overthrown.

1 Kings xx. 20, 21.

And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with the horsemen. And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.

Elijah is taken up into heaven.

2 Kings ii. 11, 12.

And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both assunder: and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father! the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

2 Kings ix. 35, 36.

And they went to bury Jezebel; but they found no more of her than the scull, and the feet, and the palm of her hands. Wherefore they came again, and told him; and he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs, eat the flesh of Jezebel.

The king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stono. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace; and the king saw the part of a hand that wrote.

Daniel cast into the den of lions.

Dan. vi. 21, 22, 23.

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innoeency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den.

Jonah is swallowed by a fish.

Jonah i. 17. ii. 10.

Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

The Salutation.

Luke i. 30, 31, 32.

⁠And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be ealled the son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.

Wise men enquire after Christ.

Matt. ii. 11, 12.

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

The baptism of Jesus.

Luke iii. 21, 22.

Now when all the people were baptised, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptised, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape, like a dove, upon him; and a voice came from heaven, which said, thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoerer she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me John Baptist's head in a charger.

The Good Samaritan.

Luke X. 33, 34.

A certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast; and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Christ's sermon on the mount.

Matt. v. 1, 2, 3, 4.

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his diciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted, &c. &c.

The Tempest

Mark iv. 37, 38, 39.

And there aroso a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And ho was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we porish? And he aroso, and rebuked the wind, and he said unto the sea, Peace; be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and, falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

The prodigal son.

Luke xv. 21, 22, 23,

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feot. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat and bo merry.

The Parable of Lazarus

Luke xvi. 20, 21, 22.

And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the erumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover, the dogs came and lieked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom.

The Last Supper.

Matt. xxvi. 26, 27, 28.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; This is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, Drink ye all of it: For this is my blood of the New Testament, whieh is shed for many for the remission of sins.

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. The Crucifixion.

And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, The King of the Jews. And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

The Ascension.

And he led them out as far as to Bethany; and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house, where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues, like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven. And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said. Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

The Last Day.

When the Son of Man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon tho throne of his glory: And beforo him shall be gathered all nations; and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And ho shall put the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on his left.
