CRICKET COMMENTARY BY AIR
2934 SHRI SUKHBIR SINGH JAUNAPURIA:
Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING
(a) the time since when the commentary of cricket has not been broadcast on
Akashwani Channels alongwith the reasons therefor;
(b) whether it is proposed to broadcast the cricket commentaries on Akashwani
channels again and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether it is proposed to start commentary of Indian Premier League (IPL)
cricket matches on Radio and if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND
BROADCASTING (COL.RAJYAVARDHAN RATHORE (Retd.)
(a) to (b) Prasar Bharati has informed that All India Radio(AIR) has been broadcasting cricket commentary of cricket events whose broadcast rights have been acquired from the concerned Rights holders by AIR/ Prasar Bharati from time to time AIR had recently broadcast the commentary of the India-Sri Lanka Cricket Series-2017 in July-September, 2017.
(c) AIR is in talks with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the broadcast of commentary of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches.
