Ahin de Foulton, Kicol de Foultown, and Thomas de Fidton, of Ayrshire, signed in 1296, among the Scottish Barons and landed proprietors, a Parliamentary roll, acknow- ledging Edward I as King Paramount of Scotland, and some of the family are still to be found in their old locality {tee Patterson's Histari/ of Ai/rshire). On 8th September, 1H14, when Sir V illiam Wade was Lieutenant cf the Tower, a minute was made by order of the Privy Council directing the Ret. Db. Ftlton to "visit the Lady Arabella Stuart, then a prisoner in the Tower, for having n.arried William Seymour, afterwards first Marquess of Hertford. Rev. Dr. Fulton was probably father of William Fulton, who went to Ireland and rf. 1638 in Kilkenny, leaving a son or grnndson, Rev. Robert Fulton, b. about 1637, sailed in 16S9,asChaplainof H.M.S. "Success" and settled at Quanabo in the Island of Jamaica, where he became vicar of St. John*s, and a landowner. By his first wife he had a son, I. RiCHAUD, of whom presently. The Rev. Robert Fidtou left issue at his decease, about 1720 (will pr. 19th November, 1720) by Florence, his second wife, II. James, h. 1692. III. Thomas, b. 1696, matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, 13th October, 1715, took Holy Orders and afterwards held various livings in Jamaica, and d. 1732, leaving no issue by Elinor, his wife. I. Captain Richard Fulton, b. ahont 1678, was a cavalry oflicer in the army of "William III. On his retirement he settled at Bellasize, near Lisburn, on the estates of the Setmoub family. He m. about 1718, Margaret, sister of John Camac (who d. 1725) of Kilfallert, CO. Down, and had issue, I. James, of Little Britain, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 4. about 1720, emigrated to Pennsylvania, about 1752, where he i/. about 1768, having issue by Margaret, his wife, two sons, 1. Eichard, b. about 1750, went to iLdia with his uncle John, in 1780, and became a merchant in Cal- cutta and left (with four daughters, three of whom d. unm. and one VI. ■ Thomuson) issue, (1) Eichard, Major 6th Dra- goons, d, s. p. about 1823. P., barrister-at-law, of Waltham Abbey, and Aldbury Place, Cheshuut, Herts, and d. 1855, having had issue, (e) James Forrest (Sir), Q.C., LL.B., Common Serjeant of London since 1893, late Recorder of Maidstone, and fomierly senior Counsel to the Post Oifice ; was M.P. for West Ham, (Northern Division) 1886-92, in which year he was knighted; A. 12th July, 1846; m. 1875, Sophia Browne, eldest surviving daughter of John B. Nicholson, and has issue, 1. Forrest, i. 61 h June, 1876.
