The Housing Handbook. By W. THOMPSON. Published by The National Housing Reform Council. London : P. S. King & Son, 1903. Pp. 270+101.

THE author has compiled a convenient summary of the arguments for reform and the legal and administrative measures which may be employed in England. The purpose is immediately practical ; the sympathetic reader is told what he can do and how to go about it. Details are given in respect to the formation of housing councils, public-health acts, condemnation of slum properties, municipal and other local governments, rural housing, Miss Octavia Hill's experiment, and continental methods. The text of the principal acts of Parliament is printed in an appendix. C. R. H.
