Of ANTS.

The [1]Spirit which all the Ants eject is very ſtrong, and at a little diſtance affects one in the ſame Manner as Spirits of Hartſhorn or Sal Volatile.

  1. This Experiment is beſt proved in Winter, becauſe at that Seaſon they lie together in Cluſters, and are not eaſilty ſeparated from one another. If you then ſmell to a Cluſter, particularly af the ſmall black Ants, you will have a ſenſible Idea of the Effect.
