Of ANTS.

The ^[1]Spirit which all the Ants eject is very ſtrong, and at a little diſtance affects one in the ſame Manner as Spirits of Hartſhorn or Sal Volatile.

↑ This Experiment is beſt proved in Winter, becauſe at that Seaſon they lie together in Cluſters, and are not eaſilty ſeparated from one another. If you then ſmell to a Cluſter, particularly af the ſmall black Ants, you will have a ſenſible Idea of the Effect.
