ENGLAND.
William Caxton: born "in Kente in the Weeld," cir. 1422 d. 1491; buried in the churchyard of St. Margaret's, Westminster. He commenced to print in England in the year 1477, his first book being the "Dictes and Sayings of the Philosophers." He had previously, it is supposed, printed at Bruges, "Le Recueil des Histoires de Troye;" the same in English—being the first English book ever printed;—and the "Chess Book."
