About sixty years old, bushy hair, face nearly front, in a black doublet, over which falls a linen collar edged with lace. Painted as if in an oval frame, on which right hand rests, standing on a pedestal, on which are a palette, brushes, ,-i roll of paper, etc. Probably picture painted for his sons, which was taken to Flanders to be engraved by Collin. Bought by Sir Lawrence Duudasfor 100 ; his sale (1794), 380 ; Earl of Ashburuham sale (1850), .829 10^. The most authentic of all Murillo's portraits.
