Born Dec. 7th, 1800; entered the Army, 1817, became Lieut. 1819, Capt. 1824, and was placed on half- pay the same year; was M.P. for Peters- field, 18301 and 183766; was Under Secretary for the Home Department, 1852, and Joint Secretary of the Treasury, 1858 9; is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magis- trate for Surrey, Sussex, and Hampshire : married (1825) Eleanor, daughter of the Hon. Berkeley Paget, (this lady died, 1862), and has issue, living, Sons Hedworth Hylton, b. 192Q; educated at Eton, and at Oriel College, Oxford; entered the 4th Light Dragoons as Cornet., 1848, became Lieut. IHSI, and was appointed Lieut, and Capt. Coldstream Guards, 1855 ; was at the battles of the Alma and Inker - mann, and in the Light Cavalry charge at Balaclava, 1855, retired 1856 ; has the Crimean Medal and four clasps, and the Turkish War Medal : is Capt. North Somerset Yeo- manry Cavalry; a Magistrate for Sussex, Surrey, Cornwall, and a Magistrate and Dep Lieut, for Somerset; sat as M.P. for Wells (C.) 185568 : m. 1858, Lady Agnes Mar Georgiana Byng, from whom he obtained a divorce 1872, daughter of the 2nd Ear of Stratford, and has, with other issue, Hylton George Hylton, b. 1862.
