Educated at Cambridge (M.A. 1860). Is a Magistrate and a Dep. Lieut, for co. Clare, of which he was High Sheriff 1862. Married 1st, (1862) the^Hon. The family traces its descent to the royal line of Thomond, a race of princes who sprang from the celebrated Irish monarch, Brien Boroihme, temp. 1002 14. Murrough O'Bryen surrendered his royalty to Henry VIII. and was, by that monarch, created Earl of Thomond, Baron Inchiquin, &c. In 1855, all the honours, with the exception of the Barony of Inchiquin (1543) became extinct. A Baronet, 1686. arms, Gules, three lions, passant, guardant, in pale, per pale, or and argent. Clare, Ireland. Clubs, St. James's, Carlton. INCHIQUIN, Baron, His lordship's predecessor was his father, Lucius, 13th Baron, son of Sir Edward O'Brien, Bart., of Dromoland. Born Dec. 5, 1800; suc- ceeded his kinsman James, 3rd and last Marquess of Thomond, in the Barony of Inchiquin, 1855. Educated at Harrow and at Trinity College, Cambridge (B.A. 1825, M.A. 1828). Sat as M.P. for Clare 182630, and 184752. Was a Representative Peer for Ireland and Lord Lieut, of co. Clare : m. 1st, 183", Mary, who. d. 1842,- eldest daughter of William Fitz- gerald, Esq., and 2ndly, 1854, Louisa, daughter of Major James Finucane, of Ennistymon- house, Clare. He d. March 22, 1872, leaving issue by 1st marriage one son and three daughters, and by 2nd marriage two sons and five daughters.
