LATJDEEDALE, Earl of, His lordship's predecessor was his cousin, Anthony, G.C.B. K.C.M.G. 10th Earl of Lauderdale, b. June 10, 1785 ; succeeded his brother, Aug. 22, I860 ; he was an Admiral of the Red, and d. unmarried, March 22, 1863. Made a K.C.B. 1856, and a G.C.B. 1857 ; received the thanks of both Houses of Parliament, 1859 ; appointed a Member of the Council of India, 1858; created Hon. D.C.L. of Oxford, and Hon. LL.D. of Cambridge, and of Dublin, 1859; was Chairman of the London School Board 1870 3 : married (1841) Harriet Catherine, daughter of the Rev.
