Aug. 18, 1748: was a distinguished lawyer, and, having filled the offices of Solicitor and Attorney-General, and Speaker of the House of Commons in England, in 1802 was appointed Lord High Chancellor of Ireland, and raised to the peerage, as Baron Redesdale. Assumed the surname and arms of Freeman in 1809 : m. June 6, 1803, Lady Frances Perceval, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Egmont, (she d. 1817) : and d. Born Feb. 9th, 1840; succeeded his father in 1852 ; was educated at Eton, and at Christ Church, Oxford; has been Lieut, in the 3rd Sussex Rifle Volunteers, and also in the Ayrshire Yeomanry Cavalry; is a Magistrate for Suffolk, of which county he was High Sheriff, 1870, and Major West Suffolk Yeomanry Cavalry. Has sat as M.P. for Suffolk By labour and honesty.
