Oct. 5, 1751; was created a Baronet in 1/92, and five years afterwards was raised to the Irish peerage, as Baron Teignmouth ; was a Com- missioner of Indian affairs, a member of the Council of Bengal, and Governor-General of India, 1792^7: m. Feb. 14, 1786, Charlotte, daughter of J. Cornish, Esq. of Teignmouth: and d. Feb. 14, 1834, having had issue three sons and six daughters. Her ladyship d. in July the same year.
