An Act to alter an Act paſſed in the Eleventh Year of the Reign of King George the Second, for the more effectual ſecuring the Payment of Rents, and preventing Frauds by Tenants.

WHEREAS by an Act of Parliament pa
ſſed in the Eleventh Year of the Reign of His late Maje
ſty King
George the Second, intituled
11 G. 2. c. 19An Act for the more a effectual ſecuring the Payment of Rents, and preventing Frauds by Tenants, it is amongst other Things enacted, that from and after the Twenty-fourth Day of
June One thou
ſand
ſeven hundred and thirty-eight, if any Tenant holding any Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments at a Rack Rent, or where the Rent re
ſerved
ſhould be full Three-fourths of the Yearly Value of the demi
ſed Premi
ſes, who
ſhould be in Arrear for One Year's Rent,
ſhould de
ſert the demi
ſed Premi
ſes, and leave the
ſame uncultivated or unoccupied,
ſo as no
ſufficient Di
ſtre
ſs could be had to countervail the Arrears of Rent, it
ſhould and might be lawful to and for Two or more Ju
ſtices of the Peace of the County, Riding, Divi
ſion, or Place (having no Intere
ſt in the demi
ſed Premi
ſes), at the Reque
ſt of the Le
ſſor or Landlord, Le
ſſors or Landlords, or his, her, or their Bailiff or Receiver, to go upon and view the
ſame, and to affix or cau
ſe to be affixed on the mo
ſt notorious Part of the Premi
