Act No. 30 of 1942.

Act

To consolidate the laws relating to the determination of the number of members of the House of Assembly to be elected in each Province and the division of the Union into electoral divisions and the taking of a census.

Be it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa, as follows:―


Replacement of section 32 of South Africa Act.

1. The following section is hereby substituted for section thirty-two of the South Africa Act, 1909:

“Constitution of House of Assembly.

32. The House of Assembly shall be composed of―

(a) one hundred and fifty members, each of whom shall be directly elected by the persons entitled to vote at an election of such a member in an
