William of Leicester, otherwise called William

1220 he was made dean of York.

Rl< BARD WeaTHEBSHED succeeded in 12 2 1, and from

this dignity was made archbishop of Canterbury in

i 229. William White enjoyed it in 1230 64 . John de St. Giles was chancellor of Lincoln in 1239. Nicholas i>k WamNGHAM was possessed of it in 1240,

1248, and 1259 65 . Brian Twyne seems to have succeeded Wadingham,

but the date of his appointment is not known. Le

Neve and Browne AYillis. however, place the name of

William Shirwood after that of Wadingham. Henry of Chichester succeeded about the year 1260.

He held the dignity in 1268 66 .
