He died in 854^'^^ and was succeeded by 854 Eardulf^^, He removed the body of St. Cuthbert, and with it the see, from Lindisfarne^^ to Chester-le- Street'*^ in 875^6, He died in the year 900^7. BISHOPS OF CHESTER -LE- STREET. 900 CuTHEARD succeeded in 900"^^; and died in 915^^, after he had been bishop fifteen years ^<^. 915 TiLRED^i succeeded Cutheard in 915, and died in 928, after he had governed the see thirteen years and four months ^2. 928 WiGRED became bishop in 928 ^^^ and died in 944'*'^. He was succeeded by 39 Flor. Wigorn. ad an. 828, According to Turgot, he became bishop in the twenty-second year of the reign of king Eanred; and to Simeon of Durham, in 830. Godwin calls him Egfrid. ^ Flor. Wigorn. ad ann. 41 Sim. Dunelm. et Flor. Wi- gorn.; some copies of this last- named author call him Eadbert, others Egbert.
