He died loth Oct. 1730 at his house in Hanover Square, and was succeeded by 1730 Edward Chandler, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield^ 4 Geo, II. who kissed hands 17th Oct. 1730 on being nominated bishop of Durham; he was confirmed 21st Nov. fol- lowing, and died 20th July 1750. 1750 Joseph Butler, bishop of Bristol, was nominated to 24 Geo. II. the see of Durham 3 ist July 1 750, and the usual conge d'elire and letters missive were issued ^9. Jje was elected 17th Sept., and confirmed 1 6th Oct. ; the tem- poralities were restored to him 21st Nov. following 'O. He died at Bath i6th June 1752. 1752 Richard Trevor, bishop of St, David's, was nominated 26 Geo. II. 1 8th Oct. 1752, and the usual conge d'ehre and letters missive were issued ^^ ; he was elected 9th Nov., and the royal assent given to his election on the 24th of that month ^2. He was confirmed 7th Dec, and the temporalities were restored to him 21st Dec.^^ He died at London 9th June 1771, and was buried at Glynde in Sussex. 1771 John Egerton, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, v/as, iiGeo.IIl. nominated 19th June 177 i, and the usual conge d'elire and letters missive were sent to the dean and chapter ^ ; he was elected 8th July following, and confirmed on the 20th of the same month. He died at London i8th Jan. 1787, and was buried in St. James's, Piccadilly. 1787 Thomas Thurlow, bishop of Lincoln^ was nominated zjGeo III. 19th Jan. 1 787, and elected lothFeb.; the royal assent was given to his election 1 2th Feb., he was confirmed 19th Feb., and the temporalities were restored to him on the 24th of the same month He died 27th May 1791. 1791 The Hon.
