The diocese of Manchester was, by the same order in council, made subject to the metropoHtan jurisdic- tion of the archbishop of York ; and divided into two archdeaconries, respectively called and styled the arch- deaconry of Manchester and the archdeaconry of Lan- caster. BISHOPS. 1847 James Prince Lee was nominated 23rd Oct. 1847, elected 17 th Nov., and the royal assent to his election given 13th Dec.
