Peter Martyr, S.T.P., 1548. Canon of the first stall of Christ Church in 1550. Richard Smyth, now S.T.P., was restored in 1554, and resigned in 1556. Joannes Fraterculus or de V^illa Garcia, S.T.B., succeeded in 1556, on the resignation of Smyth. Richard Smyth became professor again in 15,59 ; and in the year following he quitted it and the nation to- gether, and went to Douay, where he died 9th July Laurence Humphrey, 1^. A. ^fellow of Magdalen col- lege j succeeded in 1560, and died ist Feb. 1588-9. Thomas Holland, S.T.P., fellow of Balliol coUegOy succeeded in 1589. He died 17th March 1611, and was buried the 26th of the same month in St. Mary's church in Oxford. Robert Abbot, S.T.P., master of Balliol collegCy suc- ceeded 25th March 1612^ ; and in 1615 he was mado bishop of Salisbury. John Pridkaux, S.T.P., rector of Exeter college, suc- ceeded 8th Dec. 1615; and in 1641 he was made bishop of Worcester. In his time a canonry of Christ Church was annexed to the professorship. Robert Sanderson, S.T.P., some time fellow of Lin- coln college, succeeded 19th July 1642^, and was ejected by the Parliament visitors 14th June 1648.
