Thomas de Leintwarden, chancellor of JSt Paul's, London, succeeded in Feb. 1414. Henry K ay lh^ fellow first of Exeter^ and afterwards of this college, succeeded in the provostship, but the year is uncertain. Nicholas Herry was appointed by the archbishop of Canterbury 29th Jan. 1425. John Carpenter, S.T.P., succeeded ; he resigned it in 1443, being made bishop of Worcester. Walter Lyhert, le Hart, or Hart, fellow first of Exeter, afterwards of this college, succeeded in this provostship, but the exact time quaere. He resigned it 28th Feb. 1445-6, being made bishop of Nor- wich. John Hals or Halse, S.T.B., of Exeter college, was elected 23 rd March 1445-6. Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield in 1459. Henry Sampson_, S.T.P., was admitted in 1449. He held the office in 146677. Thomas Hawkins, M.A., precentor of Salisbury, suc- ceeded, but when appears not. He died at Salis- bury in Feb. 1478, and was buried in the cathedral there. John Taylor, S.T.P., was elected on the 8th, and admitted 17th March 1478. He was afterwards chancellor of the church of Exeter. He died 23rd Dec. 1492. Thomas Cornish, titular bishop of Tyne, was elected 5th Feb. 1492. He was suffragan to Stillington, bishop of Bath and Wells, and also Oldham, bishop of Exeter, precentor and residentiary of the church of Wells, also warden of the college of Ottory St. Mary.
