QUEEN^S COLLEGE Was founded by Robert Eglesfield, S.T.B., in 1341, The royal license of foundation dated j8th Jan.*^^ in that year. He granted it to queen Philippa and her successors queens of England, and it was then called Queen's hall after her. PROVOSTS. Richard de Retteford, S.T.P., late of Balliol college, was made the first provost here in 1341. William de Muskam or Muschampe John de Hotham, S.T.P., succeeded about 1343.
