He presided over the scho- lars while the college was building. Principal of Hart hall. Nicholas de Wykeham was the next: circa 1379. He was principal of Hart hall, archdeacon of Win- chester, and chancellor of the church of Salisbury. Thomas Cranleigh or Cranley, S.T.P., late felloic of Merto7i college and chancellor of the university/, was nominated to this provostship by the founder himself in the year J 389. He was principal of Hart haU. Archbishop of Dublin in 1396. Richard Malford, M.A., was elected in 1396. He died 20th Oct. 1403, and was buried in the chapel. John Bowke, M.A., was elected 1st Dec. 1403. Ho resigned 28th Oct. 1429. William Estcourt, M.A.,was elected 22nd Nov. 1429. He resigned in 1435. Nicholas Ossulbury, M.A. & S.T.B., succeeded 31st Oct. 1435^6. He died 6th Feb. 1452—3, and was bu- ried in the chapel. Thomas Chaundler, M.A. & S.T.B., warden of Win- chester college, was elected to this wardenship the latter end of February or beginning of March 1452—3. Walter Hyll, M.A., succeeded 5th Sept. 1475. ^® died 30th March 1494, and was buried in the chapel. William Porter, M.A., was elected 12th April 1494. He resigned in the beginning of August ^520.
