CHRIST CHURCH. 569 Thomas Ravis, S.T.P., succeeded in 1596 ; in March 1604-5 he was made bishop of Gloucester, and in 1607 bishop of London. John King, S.T.P., had this dignity conferred on him 4th Aug. 1605 ; and in 161 1 he was made bishop of London. William Goodwyn, S.T.P., installed 13th Sept. i6ti. He died nth June 1620, setat. 65, and was buried in the cathedral. Richard Corbet, S.T.P., succeeded 20th June 1620, was installed on the 24th of the same month, and in 1628 he was made bishop of Oxford. Brian Duppa, S.T.P., was nominated by the King 24th Oct. 1628, installed 28th Nov. 1629, and in 1638 he was made bishop of Chichester. Samuel Fell, S.T.P., was nominated dean here 28th June 1638, vice Duppa promoted to Chichester; and in 1647 he was ejected. He died jst Feb. 1648—9, and was buried in the church of Sunningwell near Abingdon co. Berks. He had held the office of Mar- garet professor. Edward Reynolds, M.A., had possession of this dig- nity given him by the same authority that ejected his predecessor, 12th April 1648. And in 1650 he was turned out to make room for John Owen, who enjoyed it under the influence of the same usurped power from i8th March 1650—51 to I ith March 1659—60, when he was deprived. He died 24th Aug. 1683, and was buried in Bunhill fields, London, among the dissenters, aetat. d^ . Edward Reynolds, S.T.P., was restored J3th March 1659-60, but forced to quit the office very soon after. Ho became bishop of Norwich in 1661. George Morley, S.T. P., was installed 27th July 1660; and in October the same year he was made bishop of Worcester. John Fkll, S/1P., was installed 30th Nov. 1660; in Noi.. ni. ^ 1)
