WADHAM COLLEGE Was founded by Nicholas Wadhara, of Merefield in Somersetshire, esq., and Dorothy his wife 11. Founda- tion-stone laid 3 1 st July i6o : charter dated 20th Dec. following. Society admitted into the college 1 2th April 1613. WARDENS. Robert Wright, S.T.P, treasurer of Wells, was ad- mitted the first warden 20th April 161 3, and resigned the same year. Bishop of Bristol in 1623, and bishop of Coventry and Lichfield in 1632. John Flemmyng, S.T.B., fellow of Exeter college, suc- ceeded 2nd Sept. 1 6 13. He died 17th March 1616, and was buried in the chapel. William Smith, M.A., fellow of this college, was no- minated to the wardenship by the foundress 19th March 161 6, and admitted on the 24th of the same month. He resigned 5th Sept. 1635. ^^' ^^^ ^^y 1 6.55- Daniel Escott, M.A., succeeded 7th Sept. 1635. He died in the beginning of April 1644, ^.nd was buried in the chapel. John Pytt, S.T.B., was elected 13th April 1644, and admitted on the 25th of the same month. He was deprived by the Parliament-delegates 3rd March 1647-8.
