Coxe, Daniel Webster, lawyer, educator, clergyman, lecturer, author, was born Dec. 23, 1843, in England. He was educated in Cleveland, Ohio; and at Kenyon college of Gambler, Ohio; from which latter institution he graduated in 1865. He was admitted by the supreme court of Ohio to practice as an attorney counsellor. For several years he was professor of latin language and literature in Washburn college at Topeka, Kan. He is a successful clergyman of the protestant episcopal church; has filled pastorates in Kansas and Ohio; and now fills a pastorate in Alden, Pa. For many years he has also been archdeacon of Scranton, Pa. He is a successful lecturer; and the author of lectures on The Nature and Attributes of Deity, and The Evidences of Christianity.

Coxe, Eckley Brinton, mining engineer, auwas born June 4, 1839, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was president of the American institute of mining engineers in 1878-80; and vice-president of the Institute of mechanical engineers in 1880-81. He was the author of Theoretical Mechanics. For many years he was sole owner of the Battery park hotel of Asheville, N.C; and was president of the Battery park bank of that city. Colonel Frank Coxe was a prominent factor in the affairs of North Carolina; and was a, well

known resident of Charlotte, Rutherfordton and Asheville. He died June 2, 1903, in Philadelphia, Pa. Coxe, Hanson Cleveland, diplomat, author. He is author of Manual of the French Law. Coxe, Hanson Cleveland, journalist, lawyer, diplomat, author, was bom Feb. 26, 1859, in Baltimore, Md.; and is the son of the late Bishop A. Cleveland Coxe. He was educated in Trinity college and at the university Trinity college of Ontario. For many years he was correspondent of the New

York Herald for the Paris edition. He has attained prominence as a, distinguished lawyer; and recognized by both the United States department of state and the French government as an authority on FrancoAmerican law. He was decorated by the French government.

During the civil war he was promoted to captain; and in 1866 transferred to the regular army as captain of infantry. In 1876 he was appointed major; and in 1904 became a brigadier-general. Coxe, John Redman, physician, author, was born in 1773 in Trenton, N.J. He was the first to introduce the practice of vaccination in Philadelphia. peal to the Public. He died March 32, 1864, in Philadelphia, Pa. Coxe, Margaret, author, was born in 1800 in Burlington, N.J. She was the author of Claims of the Country on American Females; Wonders of the Deep; and Ladies' Companion. She died in New Jersey. Coxe, Tench, political economist, congressman, author, was born May 22, 1755, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was the author of Inquiry into the Principles of a Commercial System for the United States; View of the United States; On the Navigation Act; Thoughts

on Naval Power; and Address on American Manufactures. In 1788 he was a delegate to the continental congress. He died July 17, 1824, in Philadelphia, Pa. Coxe, William, congressman, was bom in Burlington, N.J. In 1813-15 he was a representative from New Jersey to the thirteenth congress. He served in the state legislature, and was chosen speaker of the assembly. He died in Burlington, N.J. Coy. Edward Gustin, educator, author, was bom Aug. 23, 1884, in Ithaca, N.Y. He was a professor in Phillips academy of Andover until 1892, when he was elected headmaster of Hotchkis^i school of Lakeville, Conn. He was the author of Greek for Beginners; and First Greek Reader.
