Davis, Edmund, manufacturer, was born Jan. 24, 1824, in Falls River, Mass. He was a partner in the firm of Perry Davia and Son, manufacturers of pain killer, a compound founded by his father. He developed the business from a small beginning to one of the most important in New England. He died Oct. 23, 1886, in Providence, R.I. Davis, Edmund Jackson, soldier, lawyer, jurist, governor, was born in Florida. He was collector of customs on the Texas frontier in 1850-53; was a, district attorney in 1853-54, and was district judge in 1855-60. In 1861 he entered the union army as colonel; and became brigadier-general. In 1866 he was a member of the first Texas reconstruction convention; was president of the second reconstruction convention; and was the tenth governor of Texas in 1870-74. He died Feb. 7, 1883, in Texas. Davis, Edward, soldier, was born July 7, 1845, in Louisville, Ky. He served in the civil war; and until 1905 was in the United States army. In 1905 he was retired with the rank of brigadier-general. Davis, Edward Parker, physician, surgeon, author, was born Sept. 16, -856, in Baldwinsville, N.Y. In 1890-98 he was editor of the American Journal of the Medical Sciences; and since 1898 has been professor of obstetrics in Jefferson medical college of Philadelphia, Pa. He is the author of Treatise on Obstetrics; and other works. Davis, Edwin Hamilton, archaeologist, author, was born Jan. 22, 1811, in Ross county, Ohio. In 1850 he was called to the chair of materia medica and therapeutics in the New York medical college. He was the author of Monuments of the Mississippi. He died May 15, 1888, in New York City. Davis, Edwin Page, soldier, was born in Pennsylvania. In 1861 he was Brst lieutenant in the sixty-second regiment New York volunteer infantry; and in 1864 was brevetted brigadier-general of volunteers. He died Oct. 23, 1890.

He is the author of An Introduction to the Logic of Algebra. Davis, Emerson, clergyman, college president, author, was bom July 15, 1798, in Ware, Mass. He was president of Williams college in 1861-68. He was the author of Historical Sketch of Westfield, Massachusetts; The Teacher Taught; and The First Half Century, or Events and Changes, 180050. He died June 8, 1866, in Westfield, Mass. Davis, Ezekiel Forman Chamber, mechanical engineer, was bom Aug. 13, 1847, in Chestertown. Md. He was for twelve years

Davis, Frank D., lawyer, jurist He is judge of the eighth state circuit court of Michigan for the term of 1902-06; and resides in Ionia, Mich. Davis, Garrett, lawyer, congressman. United States senator, was born Sept. 10, 1801, in Mt. Sterling, Ky. He served two terms in the state legislature. In 1839 he was a member of the state constitutional convention and in 1839-47 he was a representative from Kentucky to the twenty-sixth, twenty-seventh, twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth congresses. In 1861-73 he was United States senator. He died Sept. 3, 1872 in Paris, Ky. Davis, George Allen, lawyer, statesman, was born Aug. 5, 1858, in Buffalo, N.Y. In 1895-1905 he was a member of the New York state legislature.
